How to create my tea range

To sell tea profitably, you have to find your niche. This doesn’t have to be complicated – besides creating a brand new tea blend, there are other options.

Here are 4 options for creating your tea range:

1. Using your supplier(s) existing tea range
  • Simply choose what your suppliers already have – this will speed up the tea evaluation process. Your supplier might already have something you like, but not stocking yet. Ask if they have teas like the popular Chai black teafloral Jasmine green tea, or the unusual chocolate black tea, minty cleanse herbal. You might be surprised some tea suppliers have a lot more than your usual ordered teas.
2. Using the supplier's existing tea plus added ingredients
  • This shortcuts the customisation process by getting a tea already working, and adding your personal touch, eg refresh green tea + lemon myrtle + garcinia
3. Use your recipes with % for each ingredient
  • This is where your creativity sings – if you love researching and want your tea blend represent every bit of you, this is the way to go.
  • Provide your tea blending the percentage for each ingredient. If you are unsure of the percentage, consult your supplier (or we can jump on a consult call)
4. Using a herbalist to create a blend for your sole use
  • The recipe will be in your sole ownership.
  • You can "borrow" your herbalist's credibility
  • You have the peace in mind in coming up with a blend that is functional, and safe for consumption
Some frequently asked ingredients –
  • Adding dried fruit, eg, blueberry actual fruit is faint in taste in its dried form, so unless we use a blueberry flavour, it will not give the desired flavour.
  • Adding flavour, eg, coconut – you are better off getting coconut flavoured tea that can be incorporated into your blend. Actual coconut doesn’t have the punch in terms of flavour and makes the tea looks slightly greasy.

Creating your own tea means you secure THOSE repurchases – your customers have to come back to YOU to get that great tea.

Our profitability was founded on these tea creation methods and gave us the edge over many other tea suppliers that just sell whatever they bought from their suppliers. I hope you will try out at least one of these tea creation options. Let me know how it goes!
